Our approach
We want you to feel confident purchasing WhyDoIOwe. If something is wrong, we will make it right.
W-4 Withholding Report ($19)
The W-4 Withholding Report is a one-time purchase. Because the core value (your withholding report) is delivered immediately after purchase, we handle refunds on a case-by-case basis.
You are eligible for a full refund if:
- You request a refund within 7 days of purchase.
- A technical issue prevented you from accessing paid features.
- You were charged in error (duplicate charge, wrong amount).
Refunds are not guaranteed if:
- You already downloaded or printed your withholding report and are requesting a refund simply because you changed your mind.
- Your actual tax outcome differed from the WhyDoIOwe estimate. (Our calculations are estimates, not guarantees. See our Terms of Service.)
Monitor ($79/year)
Monitor is an annual subscription. You can cancel anytime from your billing page.
- Cancel before renewal: your access continues through the end of your current billing period. No further charges.
- Refund after renewal: if you were charged for a renewal you did not want, contact us within 14 days for a full refund of the renewal charge.
- Mid-cycle cancellation: we do not offer prorated refunds for unused time within a billing period.
How to request a refund
Email support@whydoiowe.com with your account email and a brief description of the issue. We aim to respond within 1 business day.
Approved refunds are processed back to your original payment method through Stripe. Allow 5 to 10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.
Chargebacks
Please contact us before filing a chargeback with your bank. We are happy to resolve issues directly and can process refunds faster than the chargeback process.
